At the moment, there are not that many local bands to be excited about. But, on Friday night, EPCB caught a whirlwind set by NEW on the scene local group, Sickbay, which features Corey Bixler on eccentric Bass duties and John Eivins on manic-in-your-face drum duties.

The distorted bass and syncopated drum duo will melt your face and will have you paying close attention to their rhythm and beat changes. Their style is reminiscent of Death From Above 1979 and Deerhoof with a heavy Chuco-style salsa sauce covered all over it.

Watch out for these guys, their tunes don’t have any vocals but if the drummer or even any other vocalist gets in the mix, it will take their distinctive local sound to another level.

They played a very solid short and sweet set at the Tequila Garage on Friday night and hopefully, you the readers, will get to see Sickbay at a venue near you. Seriously, check it out folks.

Make sure to check out their facebook page and their bandpage.
