On a recent Saturday night at Lips Lounge, I witnessed a local group that spit and growled rock and roll.
The name of said group is Ironsides. They played a fearlessly loud ass set with stinging leads, thumping rhythms and chugging riffs. The lead singer’s performance was mesmerizing and definitely different (especially for a town like EP) and could be compared to a kid screaming his heart out after skipping out on his adhd meds.
Their sound could be described as punk colliding with metal and their lead singer is reminiscent of the dramatic style of Iggy Pop and tough guy bravado of Glenn Danzig. And it was only fitting that the last song they performed was Judas Priest’s “Breaking the Law.”
This menacing band is composed of Germ on vocals, Eamon on guitar, Ben on guitar, Charlie on bass and Rel on drums. As you can see, in true punk fashion, their last names are not listed on their facebook.
So kids, if you ever see a flyer or facebook post with Ironsides on it, make sure to take some time out of your busy week and give your ears a workout with one of EP’s latest and ballsiest acts.
